Is Touching Base registered with the NDIS?
No. Touching Base Inc provides information for individuals and organisations throughout Australia, primarily via our website.
We do not provide direct support services or training to people with disability. We are unfunded and most of our work is done within a volunteer capacity.
Does Touching Base have sex workers available for me to see?
Touching Base is not an escort agency or a brothel. We do not help coordinate a booking / appointment with a sex worker.
We do have lots of information on our website for potential clients, and those supporting someone to access sex services. This includes a FAQ section on accessing sexual services, client stories, a client’s guide, where and how to find sex workers in your local area and some sex industry facts: https://www.touchingbase.org/clients
We do provide referrals to sex workers
Our Referral List of disability-friendly sex service providers referral request form will allow us put you in touch with sex workers and sex services premises (brothels) who are current members of Touching Base and have given us their contact details to pass on to clients or others supporting them to access sex services.
We will put you in touch with sex workers or sex services premises who match your referral request regarding the gender and age range of the sex workers, the services and location requested. You will be given their name, website (if they have one), email and phone number. It is up to you or your support person (with your permission) to contact them to discuss costs, and arrange an appointment, etc https://www.touchingbase.org/clients/referral-list
Is Touching Base answering referral requests during COVID-19
Yes.
We appreciate that people with disability often need time to plan for accessing sex services, so during the COVID-19 pandemic Touching Base will continue to provide referral information so people with disability can investigate their choices.
We encourage clients to follow up-to-date public health advice. Be aware that sex workers may be slow to respond to referral requests during this public health emergency.
Sex workers will be using varying degrees of social distancing and other measures to avoid risks of COVID-19 transmission for themselves and their clients, but many may still be willing to discuss their services and future appointments.
